Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party, Ilirjana Kuçana, commented on the start of the new parliamentary session and the situation within the Democratic Party.
Kuçana criticized the way the opposition has functioned in the last four years and called for a deep reform of the party.
Among other things, she stated that she cannot continue to function with the same model she has followed in the last four years, citing the burning of mandates and failures in organization and strategy.
" We cannot expect the gray electorate to follow us if we continue to burn chairs. A different model is required, a new vision, new figures and a restructured DP, prepared for the by-elections and those of 2027, " said the member of the DP National Council.
She added that the opposition must be active not only in the Parliament hall, but also on the ground, among citizens, with protests and clear political ideas.
In a direct statement, Kuçana criticized DP figures who, according to her, have lost electoral battles, but continue to hold important positions within the party, emphasizing that the departures should have come after the defeat as part of political morality by the very people who did not achieve victory in the elections for the party.
" Mr. Bardhi has lost in two districts and one MP on the safe list in Fier. I'm not saying he shouldn't be an MP, but he can't be the chairman of the parliamentary group. This contradicts the political morality of the DP, " she stressed, adding that the party should break away from Lulzim Basha's model, where according to her, losers were rewarded with leadership positions.
