Socialist MP Erion Braçe has reacted with critical tones in the Parliament towards the Minister of Agriculture, highlighting some of the main problems that farmers face.
He stressed that the removal of free oil for agriculture has occurred at an inappropriate time, when prices are high, directly affecting the increase in production costs.
Braçe suggested that support be focused more on specific production, proposing subsidies per liter of milk or per kilogram of production, instead of current schemes that, according to him, favor the number of livestock heads.
"Why don't you favor production but favor cows, sheep and goats... if you give me lek per liter and set a standard for the milk that is produced, give me lek per kg of production, whatever the production is."
"That scheme has this good part, but the other part is that you removed the oil that was free at a time of crisis... I have said that the oil scheme needs to change, but not at a time of crisis, when prices are high and we don't know how it will go, because it directly increases the cost ," he said.
Another concern he raised is related to the increase in fertilizer prices, which he described as abusive. According to Braçe, the traders' justification of stock market prices does not hold up, as data from Customs shows that most of the fertilizers were imported before the start of the conflict in the Middle East.
"And on the other hand, we have chemical fertilizers, minister, it is a huge abuse, from February 28 to March 31, which I received the Customs data, only three thousand tons of chemical fertilizers entered, all the rest came before the war, so how could the prices not have doubled as soon as the rockets exploded there.
"Well, shouldn't someone deal with this and verify it? He says in Kavaja, 'I'm selling at the stock exchange price'... whose stock exchange is he selling to? When did he bring the goods in 2025 and the first months of 2026? Put a stop to the abuse, otherwise the farmers won't be able to breathe," said Braçe.
