Sali Berisha, his son-in-law and the three other defendants will face each other for the first time in the dock as defendants in a criminal trial.
Tomorrow, June 30, at 10:00, the first session of the trial on the merits for the "Partizani" file will be held at the GJKKO.
Sali Berisha, his son-in-law and the three other defendants will face each other in the dock for the first time as defendants in a criminal trial. It is not known whether Berisha will be present at the hearing or represented by lawyers.
The case will be judged by a trio of judges, determined by lot: Elsa Ulliri as presiding judge, Bib Ndreca and Rudina Palloi as members of the panel.
None of the defendants have requested a summary trial, which means it will be a lengthy process.
Defendants in this case include former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi, his partner Xhimi Begeja, businessman Fatmir Bektashi and financier Andia Pustina, who will face justice in connection with the accusations of privatization of the former "Partizani" sports complex.
Berisha will be tried on charges of passive corruption of high-ranking officials. SPAK alleges that in his capacity as prime minister, he favored his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, in obtaining property.
Berisha is under the security measure of "compulsory appearance", while his son-in-law is under "house arrest". Malltezi is accused by SPAK of having illegally benefited from income worth 5.4 million euros from a construction business thanks to government decisions taken by his father-in-law.
