Koçi had been missing since June 4, after being taken hostage and executed by his friend, 41-year-old Armand Shakaj, who remains wanted.
Investigations into the suspected murder of Eglant Koçi are continuing, while the main suspect, Armand Shakaj, remains at large.
He has been reported to have been seen on several occasions on the streets of Tirana, but has managed to evade the police.
According to journalist Anila Hoxha, the Tirana Prosecution Office has taken a new step in the investigation, requesting permission from the Criminal Court to examine four computers seized in the murder suspect's office.
Sources close to the investigative group indicate that one of the main leads in the investigation is related to a possible conflict arising from cryptocurrency transfers, an activity in which the victim, Koçi, is suspected to have been involved for a long time.
However, so far, the data collected shows that Koçi had a limited income and lived a simple life without great financial exposure.
The murder of the young man and the investigation leads
Armand Shakaj, wanted as a suspected perpetrator for the disappearance of his close friend, Eglant Koçi, is suspected of having used a cart to transport his vehicle, inside which it is believed the 34-year-old's body was located, towards the Iba area.
According to investigators, this maneuver was carried out to avoid routine police checks and to avoid arousing suspicion while the vehicle was moving. The incident is suspected to have occurred on June 6.
Security camera verifications show that Koç's body may have been kept in the vehicle for about a day and a half, as his last contact with family members was on June 4.
The police have identified and questioned the driver of the truck. According to his testimony, Shakaj's vehicle was transported to a service station in the Iba area, after the latter had told him that the car had suffered a defect. The witness stated that after delivering the vehicle, he left and had no idea what could be inside it. Meanwhile, in the office premises where Eglant Koçi is suspected of being held, experts have found traces of gunpowder residue.
According to preliminary information, his body was discovered in a rural area between Tirana and Elbasan. It is suspected that the young man's lifeless body was thrown into an abyss in the village of Cerujë, while it was a police drone that located it.
