Durrës Police have executed 17 security measures as part of the operation codenamed "Cleaning 5", while another person has been declared wanted, after several months of investigations for the distribution of narcotics near schools and facilities frequented by young people.
Thirteen suspects have been sentenced to "prison arrest", while 4 others have been placed under "house arrest". The arrested are residents of Durrës, Kavajë, Shijak, Sukth, Manzë and Xhafzotaj.
The arrested persons are: Ervin Tahiri, Ervin Keçi, Fabrinio Durmishi, Hamdi Ibrahimi, Klevi Shani, Oligert Xhani, Elson Gjepali, Marjo Gjoshi, Indrit Dauti, Saimir Vezi, Ermal Çalliku, Armand Emini and Tani Muça (Ferra).
According to investigations conducted by the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Operational Forces, "Eagles", the Manza Police and the Shijak Police Station, the group was providing and distributing narcotics mainly near schools in Shijak and Manza.
During the operation, significant quantities of heroin, cocaine and cannabis sativa were seized, as well as three firearms, specifically two pistols and a Kalashnikov. Authorities also seized money suspected of being proceeds of crime, vehicles and mobile phones.
The suspects are accused of the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration and more than once.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further investigations and actions.
"The operation codenamed "Cleaning 5" is being finalized, as a result of 2 criminal proceedings pursued for several months. The objective of the operation is to identify and arrest citizens who were attempting to distribute narcotics near schools and in other environments frequented by young people.
During the operation, significant quantities of narcotics, including Heroin, Cocaine and Cannabis Sativa, 3 firearms (2 pistols and 1 Kalashnikov), significant amounts of money, vehicles and mobile phones were seized.
Security measures are being implemented for 17 citizens (for 13, the measure "Arrest in prison"; for 4, the measure "House arrest"). 1 citizen is declared wanted. The citizens are accused of having colluded to obtain narcotics for the purpose of selling them near schools in Shijak and Manzë.
Following the intensive investigative and operational work carried out by the Durrës Police structures, with priority given to identifying and detaining citizens who commit criminal activities near educational institutions and/or other facilities frequented by young people, specialists from the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the services of the Special Operations and "Eagle" forces and with the services of the Manzë Police Station and the Shijak Police Commissariat, finalized, under the direction of the Durrës Prosecutor's Office, the operation codenamed "Cleaning 5".
As a result of 2 criminal proceedings, several months of investigations were conducted, following which security measures were executed for 17 citizens, specifically, the security measure "Arrest in prison" was executed for 13 citizens, the security measure "House arrest" was executed for 4 citizens, while 1 citizen was declared wanted.
These citizens, residents of Durrës, Kavajë, Shijak, and villages in the administrative units of Sukth, Manzë and Xhafzotaj, are accused of the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", committed in collaboration and/or more than once.
Investigations suspect that these citizens, in collaboration, were obtaining narcotics and selling them mainly near schools in Shijak and Manza, as well as in other environments frequented by young people.
"The procedural materials were referred to the Durrës Prosecutor's Office for further action," the police statement said.
