An Albanian couple have been arrested by police in Italy after they were caught with 20 kg of drugs in their car.
Italian media reports that the couple were together with their daughter in the car, outside a supermarket.
In the supermarket bags, the Albanian couple, 37 and 35 years old, did not have food, but five vacuum-packed packages containing almost 5 kilograms of marijuana.
This was a small portion of the amount they had stored at home, where police found another 15 kilograms of the same substance.
How were they discovered by the police?
The couple, who were carrying their two-year-old daughter, were stopped by a patrol car while waiting for someone outside the supermarket.
The officers, taking into account the 37-year-old's criminal record, decided to search the car in which the family was traveling, registered in the name of another 62-year-old with a criminal record. The latter had been arrested a few weeks earlier on Via Calabria, also by the police, while transporting boxes containing 13 kilograms of marijuana.
The drug packages were found in the car, hidden under the back seat where the 2-year-old child was sitting. Due to his previous conviction and the statements he made, he was sentenced to prison, while the woman, who has no criminal record, was ordered to stay in the city.
