Lushnja police have arrested over 30 people for the assassination attempt on Julian Sula, known as Juli i Pashako.

Most of them are members of Aldo Bare's group and the Aliçka tribe in Lushnje, members of two tribes that have had numerous conflicts with 45-year-old Sulo in recent years. After questioning, they were released, having denied involvement in the events.

It was discovered that the perpetrators' car was stolen in 2022 in Greece, while the license plates were there a year earlier, but in different Greek cities. The Greek authorities in response have confirmed to the Fier Police that these are thefts without perpetrators and unsolved. In addition to the dynamics of the event, the police do not have a clear idea of how and where the perpetrators left. After burning the car in the village of Lifaj, the suspicions of the investigation group are that they may have left in another vehicle, through several villages that lead to Kuçova and Berat, but because the entire area where the perpetrators are thought to have passed is agricultural land and without businesses, under these conditions there are no cameras to have filmed the movements of the perpetrators' car.

Who is Juli i Pashako?

Julian Sulo, also known as Juli i Pashako, was the target of an assassination attempt in Lushnja. Sulo, who was wounded in the leg, is not an unknown name to the Blues. Sulo was also suspected of the organized assassination attempt on Bare's nephew, Xhulio Shkurti, who survived the assassination attempt in 2017. Sulo was released as there was no evidence linking him to the assassination, also known as the Lushnja massacre. For this event, Anterio Kaloshi and Orgest Bilbili were sentenced to life imprisonment, a decision upheld by the Supreme Court on November 21, 2025. In the Lushnja massacre, Zamir Latifi and Jurgen Hoxha were killed, and Bujar Turkut and Marius Xhepexhiut were injured.

This is not the first time Sulo has been assassinated. On June 11, 2016, he was assassinated after the Albania-Switzerland match at a betting shop by Arjan Aliço, a member of Aldo Bare's gang, known as "Arti i Braçes".

On March 18, 2018, Sulo was arrested by special forces in Lushnja after he refused to obey a police checkpoint to stop, and a pistol with cartridges was found in his car. He is also convicted of criminal activity in the field of narcotics and crimes against the person.

On June 13, 2023, Sulo, by decision of the Vlora Court of Appeal, had several assets confiscated from him that he had allegedly acquired through criminal activity. An apartment worth 120 thousand euros, a luxury vehicle "Porsche Cayanne" and 70 thousand euros were seized from him.

How did the assassination attempt in Lushnje happen?

Aldo Bare's rival was shot with a hail of bullets while driving a BMW near the city hospital, but managed to escape after only being wounded in the leg.

There are still no details about the 45-year-old's assailants, while police have seized cameras from several businesses, which focused on the moment of the gunshot. According to police, two people, with black masks on their faces and hats, got out of the car, which they parked at the bend of "Misto Mame" street.

As soon as they saw Sulo's black BMW entering this road, they got out of the vehicle and shot at him, one with a Kalashnikov and the other with a pistol. Their exit was delayed because the target's car had passed at high speed. It is suspected that the 45-year-old saw the assassins and increased the speed of the car, miraculously escaping the bullets. The assassination lasted only 10 seconds. 6 bullets hit the car, and only 1 hit Sulo in the leg. The perpetrators then left and burned the car and weapons in the village of Lifaj.

Sulo first went to his bar in Karbunarë and then to his house. He stayed for a few minutes and then went to the hospital to have his leg treated. So far, the police have accompanied and questioned 18 people in connection with the incident, as well as relatives of the 45-year-old.

The tracks being investigated are several, starting from Julian Sula's past in 1997 until today, such as his connections with drug trafficking and businesses. Sulo had been moving freely in Lushnje for 2 years, even on foot. The vehicles he used were sometimes armored and sometimes not.
