A police operation in Mamurras was accompanied by tension and an exchange of gunfire, after two people attempted to endanger the lives of police officers during an intervention to arrest them.
According to the official announcement, the target of the operation was Leonard Dema, 23 years old, born in Mamurras, declared internationally wanted and sentenced by the Court of Trento in Italy to 7 years in prison for attempted murder.
The police say that, after exchanging information and coordinating with international partners, information was obtained about the 23-year-old's whereabouts. The operation to capture him took place at a gas station on the "Mamurras-Laç" axis.
At the time of the police intervention, Leonard Dema, who was driving a vehicle with citizen AF, 28 years old, is suspected of attempting to hit the officers with his vehicle, endangering their lives. According to the police, the person accompanying him pointed a firearm at the police officers.
In self-defense, the officers intervened to neutralize them, while Leonard Dema was injured during the operation. He was transported to the Trauma Hospital in Tirana and is under the care of doctors.
Meanwhile, the police have also arrested citizen AF, who was accompanying the wanted person, in flagrante delicto. During the search, the firearm he possessed was seized.
"Following the operations of the Special Operations Force Directorate, carried out after exchanging information and coordinating operational actions with international partners, with the aim of capturing wanted citizens, information has been provided on the location of the wanted citizen Leonard Dema, 23 years old, born in Mamurras, sentenced to 7 years in prison by the Court of Trento, for attempted murder.

F, and was traveling by vehicle, as soon as he noticed the officers, attempted to hit them with his vehicle, endangering their lives, and the accompanying person pointed a firearm, a pistol, at the Police services.

Following the procedural actions, the arrest in flagrante delicto of citizen AF, 28 years old, who was accompanying the citizen in search, was also made. The firearm, a pistol, was also seized.
