Some Albanians are concerned by the tale of the "forgiveness of Sazan Island." At the heart of this campaign lies the decision to allow the Trump family to invest in an uninhabited island, which today practically serves as a public toilet for beachgoers who urinate when they go by boat to spend a few hours at the beach.
Of course, Sazani has remained deserted, because Albanian entrepreneurs have no capacity or interest to invest in an island that has neither electricity nor water. So why this public hysteria against foreign investment?
"Tourist Albania" is entering a new phase of development, where foreign demand is much higher than the quality and capacity of local investments. For this reason, foreign investments are not a luxury, but a necessity.
In recent decades, the Mediterranean coast has become one of the most powerful economic engines of Europe. In Italy, Greece, Croatia, France, Turkey, the development of tourism did not come by chance. It was the result of a clear policy: openness to foreign capital and the involvement of international corporations in building the tourism industry.
Do Albanian companies have the financial strength, technology and experience to make this development possible?
No. No High-end coastal tourism is a capital-intensive industry. Marinas, tourist airports, luxury resorts, water and energy infrastructure require colossal investments. Local entrepreneurs, in most Mediterranean countries, have never had the capacity for projects of this scale.
It is international funds, global banks and multinational corporations that have brought in billions of euros without burdening public budgets. Greece, Croatia and Montenegro would not have modern marinas, iconic resorts and new tourist cities today without foreign capital.
A decisive advantage are global brands that bring guaranteed tourists. A local hotel, no matter how beautiful, cannot fill hundreds of rooms all year round. International corporations also bring standards, professionalism and quality. One of the traditional problems of local tourism has been the lack of quality service. Foreign investors bring professional management, technology, training and a service culture.
These investments create thousands of jobs, train new managers, and raise the level of the entire industry.
The presence of luxury brands also increases national prestige. A country with famous brand resorts is perceived differently in international markets and attracts tourists with high purchasing power, new investors and develops 12-month tourism all year round.
In many cases, Mediterranean countries have developed without spending public funds, using international private capital.
This does not mean excluding local entrepreneurship. The most successful models are partnerships between local and foreign capital.
Unfortunately, in the last 30 years, one of Albania's greatest failures has been the systematic obstruction of foreign investors. Berisha, Meta, and Rama have favored the political clientele that financed their campaigns, blocking serious investments and turning the coast into a housing estate.
In this darkness, Sazan's project is one of the few green lights. It would not be just an investment, but a new standard of development. An Albanian Monte Carlo in the heart of the Mediterranean.
It is almost unbelievable to imagine Ismail Qemali's Vlora becoming a capital of the world elite between East and West. But don't forget: just ten years ago, Vlora was a four-hour drive through potholes that even Ismail Qemali's carriage couldn't pass.
Let the Americans invest in Sazan, before the island is torn apart by Albanian gangs, as happened with Lalzi Bay.
Albania does not need its only island to be ruined by Albanian marketers like Golem, Shkëmbi Kavajës or Shëngjini…
Don't pretend to be more patriotic than the French, Spaniards, Italians or Turks who have developed their coast with foreign investments and not just local ones.
Sazani nuk ka energji elektrike dhe as uje te pijshem, por me taksat e shqiptareve do i kete te dyja. Do i falet familjes se Trump qe ata te pasurohen edhe me shume! Nuk do paguajne asnje takse per minimumi 10 vite( une jam i sigurt qe nuk do paguajne takse asnjehere). Dhe u shitet shqiptareve se amerikanet jane aleate qe i mbrojne nga armiqte serbe dhe ruse! Po ku qendron pavaresia ketu mor plehre i qelbur?! Nuk te zhvasin ruset dhe serbet, por te zhvasin amerikanet dhe europianet. Kjo "pavaresi" nga armiqte, eshte vetem nje genjeshter e madhe! Ne te vertete ne nuk kemi qene asnjehere te pavarur! Shqiptaret e asimiliar ne Serbi dhe Greqi, jetojne 1000 here me mire se shqiptaret "patrirote" te Shqiperise! Fekalet e politikes dhe hajdute te sistemit te "drejtesise" si Spahiu, na hapin barkun si gjoja atdhetare te medhenj. Jo se u behet vone per patriotizem, por se kane hallin te leket e zhvatura shqiptareve dhe te fshehura ne parajsat fiskale dhe bankat e "aleateve" te Shqiperise!

Investimet e korporatave ,veçanërisht ato Amerikane kanë qënë të dëshirushme për shqiptarët.Por konçensionet shumica e tyre i janë dhënë pa garë, pa transparencë, haptaz korruptive, pa asnjë fitim për buxhetin e shtetit, klienteliste dhe më së shumti vëndeve jo miqësore me kombin shqiptar.
