"I'm 61 and a half years old and I still haven't retired" - This is what Mirela said, who was expecting to retire in January. But she has to wait another 6 months to benefit from it.

"Retirement would help me. I will work because I am a tenant. I want to retire now and not have to work anymore, but it is causing me a lot of trouble," she continued.

The retirement age for women has increased from this month. If in 2025 a woman would have to have 38 years of work experience to retire at 61 years and 10 months, this year she will retire 2 months later.

These are the effects of the reform that came into effect in January 2015, which provides for a gradual increase in age and seniority in employment.

For citizens of this age group, such an increase is not welcome.

"The negative is that I want to eat my pension, not have my pension eat me. As they say, if you add water and flour, you won't make bread at all. There's a certain age that comes up. I'm waiting for my retirement, but it adds up to me."

"If we can barely get out of bed, we're no longer working."

Unlike women, for men the retirement age remains 65 years old and will not change until 2032. After 2032 it will continue to increase by 1 month each year, and according to the law 'On Social Security', by 2056 the retirement age for both men and women will be equalized at 67 years old.

For both genders, the number of years of service will also increase starting in 2026. To retire this year and receive full benefits, you must have 39 years of service, or 4 months more than the previous year. The insurance years will gradually increase to 40 years of service by 2029./A2
