For all citizens who turn to microfinance institutions for consumer loans, relief comes from the Bank of Albania.

Maximum interest rates will be reduced, mostly affecting loan values up to 200 thousand lek.

The latest changes affect a range of values. For consumer loans up to 200 thousand lekë, the maximum interest will be approximately 54.8%, down from 62.2%. For 200 to 600 thousand lekë it is 35.4% from 35.2% which was until the end of January. Interest rates for amounts from over 600 thousand lekë to 2 million lekë are also decreasing, the interest will be 14.7%.

But what do Albanian citizens get the most consumer loans for?

From personal to family expenses such as debt repayment, health and educational expenses, purchases of household appliances and mobile phones, to vacations on credit, these are the factors that encourage citizens to borrow more.

But according to experts, caution should be exercised in the increase in the number of problem loans.

Although on the one hand there are reports of a decrease in interest rates for consumer loans, on the other hand banks are becoming stricter in granting housing loans. The tightening of lending conditions and terms came as a result of higher collateral requirements by these institutions in relation to housing loans. /Top Channel
