Ukraine is shedding light on the environmental damage caused by Russia during the war. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that, as of November 2025, over 10,000 cases of environmental damage caused by Russia have been documented.
Since the start of the war, hundreds of hectares of forests and fields have been burned by Russia. Various water sources have been contaminated and large areas of land have been mined, posing a threat to the present and future.
"Burnt fields, destroyed forests, polluted air and water, mined lands - these are just some of the devastating consequences of Russia's war of aggression. We call for international action to prevent Russia from destroying nature in Ukraine and beyond ," it says.
According to the ministry, estimated losses amount to approximately $142 million since the start of the full-scale invasion.
