Despite ongoing tensions in the Middle East, several large commercial ships have resumed passage through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most important shipping lanes.
According to Marine Traffic data, several oil tankers, liquefied gas carriers and a container ship entered the Persian Gulf on Sunday, following the southern corridor near the coast of Oman. All ships sailed with their identification systems activated, while the chosen route kept them away from the Iranian coast.
However, not all shipping companies have changed their routes. According to shipping data, some commercial ships continue to pass along the Iranian coast, despite the tense situation in the region.
Meanwhile, French shipping company CMA CGM announced that its container ship Galapagos has successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz. The company called the transit "an important moment in a regional context that remains complex and requires constant vigilance."
According to tracking data, the ship sailed between the Iranian islands of Qeshm and Hormuz before leaving the Gulf.
Although traffic is gradually returning, maritime authorities continue to warn of high risks. The Joint Maritime Information Center, overseen by the US Navy, has classified the threat level in the Strait of Hormuz as "considerable", following recent attacks on merchant ships.
To facilitate navigation, the southern corridor near the coast of Oman has been expanded, creating more space for ship traffic in both directions, while monitoring in the area remains at maximum.
