Since Jeffrey Epstein's death in 2019, evidence after evidence has placed him at the center of a vast web of sex, money and influence, involving some of the world's richest and most powerful people.
But over three million documents released last week by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) show that in addition to his criminal sexual tendencies, Epstein was deeply obsessed with genetics and the "improvement" of the human race.
The new files reveal racist and sexist conversations, as well as an obsessive interest in “transhumanism,” a philosophical movement that includes eugenics and artificial intelligence. Epstein also engaged in advanced discussions about funding a genetic modification company and was focused on specific racial characteristics, such as blue eyes.
Among the most shocking exchanges are those related to race. Epstein, first convicted in 2008, was outspoken about his belief that black people are genetically less intellectually developed than white people.
In a 2016 email to linguist and activist Noam Chomsky, Epstein wrote that “the test score gap among African Americans is well documented” and that “improving the situation may require accepting some uncomfortable facts.”
Another email exchange gives a clearer idea of what he meant by “uncomfortable facts.” In a conversation with the renowned German cognitive and artificial intelligence scientist Joscha Bach, who was working at MIT at the time and had received a £300,000 donation from Epstein, it is suggested that Epstein was interested in the possibility of genetically modifying black people to make them “smarter.”
In a July 2016 message, Bach writes to Epstein: “If I understand correctly, you are suggesting […] that it might be possible to make black people smarter by altering the timing of motor development.”
The talk is based on a pseudo-neuroscientific theory that there are “layers” of cognitive development. Bach claims that black children develop motor skills faster than white children, but at the expense of more advanced cognitive development. He links this to the idea that Africans are adapted to a “hunt and run” lifestyle, while Europeans are adapted to an agricultural culture that requires delaying gratification.

According to previous reports, Epstein planned to use a 7,000-acre ranch in New Mexico to "seed" children with his DNA. He had discussed the plan with scientists and other acquaintances, aiming to impregnate women with his sperm.
There is no evidence that this project was ever carried out. But recent documents reinforce the image of a deeply dark man, where sexual abuse, power, racism and fantasies of genetic superiority were frighteningly intertwined.
Epstein claimed he wanted to improve the human race, but in reality he remains one of its ugliest examples.
