A man died in Portugal after his vehicle was swept away by floods caused by Storm Leonardo.
"Leonardo" also hit Spain, as a girl was swept away by the current of the river while trying to save her dog.
Leonardo is the latest in a wave of winter storms that have hit Portugal and Spain this year.
A man in his 70s died on Wednesday in Portugal's southern Alentejo region after his car was swept away by water, Portuguese authorities said.
In the Malaga province of southern Spain, a girl went missing after being pulled from the Turvilla River while trying to save her dog.
"We spent all afternoon and last night searching the river from where the girl fell to the bottom of the river. We found the dog, but not her," Malaga fire chief Manuel Marmolejo told Spanish television.
Andalusia's emergency services had attended more than 1 million incidents by midnight on Wednesday, they said in X.
Fourteen rivers and 10 dams were at "extreme" risk of flooding, according to Antonio Sanz, head of the regional government's interior department.
