Last night, Bloomberg reported that Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, advised the Russians on how best to approach the US president regarding a peace deal in Ukraine.
This led a Republican representative to call for his dismissal, and Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov to say that the call was confidential and its leak was "unacceptable" today.
This afternoon, one of Vladimir Putin's closest officials and Trump's own son took to social media to defend Witkoff.
Donald Trump Jr., quoting a passage from a Republican strategist, stated that what Witkoff was doing were classic negotiation techniques to support his counterpart.
"It's almost as if these media and Deep State idiots have never successfully negotiated a deal in the real world. It's pretty clear that almost all of Witkoff's critics want any kind of peace deal in Ukraine to fail so they can continue this war indefinitely. Enough already!" Trump Jr. tweeted.
