"They're running away, the police are here"/ Footage released

A video that has gone viral shows the moments of the spectacular escape of two robbers who stole jewelry worth 88 million euros from the Louvre museum in Paris.

In the video, which lasts about 30 seconds, two people are seen descending from the museum building by crane, just a few minutes after entering through a window to reach the Apollo Gallery, where the treasures were exhibited.

Immediately afterwards, they leave on a motorbike, disappearing from the scene.

According to the report, one of the perpetrators is wearing a fluorescent vest, while the other is wearing a motorcycle helmet, and both are dressed in black. What is striking is their calmness during the operation. A voice can be heard in the background saying:

"They're on a motorbike... they're running away... damn it, the police are here!"

A few seconds later, the robbers try to set the crane on fire, but fail. The video ends as they speed away on their motorbike.

Louvre director admits shortcomings in security system

Summoned to a session of the French Senate's Culture Committee, the Louvre's director, Laurence des Cars, admitted that the external security camera system was insufficient, describing it as the "weakest point" of the museum's defense.

"The security system inside the Apollo Hall worked perfectly, with all the alarms being activated. But outside the building, the cameras are old and do not cover all the facades of the Louvre. Unfortunately, on the side where the robbery took place, the only camera was facing west and did not capture the balcony where the thieves entered," she said.
