The IRGC claims to have killed US soldiers, stopped ships in the Strait of Hormuz and struck military targets in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. Washington confirms new attacks on Iran as tensions in the Middle East escalate.
The conflict between Iran and the United States has escalated significantly, as Tehran has launched a wave of ballistic missile and drone attacks on American military bases in several Middle Eastern countries, while Washington has continued air operations against Iranian military targets.
According to the Iranian military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the attacks hit the US base at Sheikh Isa in Bahrain, allegedly damaging a fuel depot and an area where US fighter jets are stationed. Tehran also said it attacked Camp Arifjan, as well as the Ali Al-Salem and Al-Adiri bases in Kuwait, while the Al-Azraq air base in Jordan was also targeted.
The IRGC claimed that American soldiers were killed in the drone attack on the Camp Arifjan base, but so far the Pentagon has not confirmed these claims.
On the other hand, CBS News, citing American sources, reported that several American soldiers were injured during Iranian attacks on bases in Jordan. The number of injured and their condition were not made public.
Alarm sirens were sounded in Saudi Arabia after authorities detected the launch of an Iranian ballistic missile towards the Prince Sultan air base, one of the most important US military facilities in the region. Saudi authorities later announced that the alert had ended, without giving information about damage or casualties.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian army announced that it had shot down ten Iranian ballistic missiles that were flying towards the country's territory.
At the same time, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had completed the seventh consecutive night of attacks on Iran. According to the US military, the targets of the bombing were observation centers, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons depots and targets related to Iranian naval capabilities. The operation used fighter jets, drones and warships.
Iranian authorities reported that US bombings in Hormozgan province have killed three people and injured eight others.
The latest clash shows the expansion of the conflict beyond Iranian territory, with attacks already affecting several Middle Eastern countries where US military bases are located. As both sides continue military operations, fears grow that the conflict could take on wider regional dimensions.
