United States President Donald Trump has made an explosive statement on his social network "Truth Social", claiming that several US allied countries in the Middle East and surrounding areas are ready to intervene with heavy forces in Gaza if Hamas continues to violate agreements and "misbehave."
"Many of our now major allies in the Middle East have enthusiastically informed me that they are prepared, at my request, to enter Gaza with heavy forces and 'fix Hamas' if the latter continues its unacceptable actions ," Trump wrote, implying that these countries are ready for direct military intervention.
Trump adds that he still has hope that Hamas " will do what is right ," but sternly warns that if not, then "the end of Hamas will be swift, savage and brutal!"
The statement comes at a time of renewed tension in the region, following mutual accusations between Israel and Hamas of ceasefire violations. According to Israel, two Israeli soldiers were killed on Sunday in a Hamas attack.
Last night, Trump reiterated his stance, calling the situation with Hamas “ a small problem that will be solved very quickly .” He warned that if Hamas does not change its behavior, it will be “eradicated.”
Asked by reporters whether the US would be involved with ground troops in Gaza, Trump stated that he would not, suggesting that military action would be taken by other countries, including Israel.
At the end of his post, Trump particularly thanked Indonesia and its " strong and wonderful " leader, for the help they have given to the Middle East and the US, according to him.
