Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that 25 ships have transited through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours, under the coordination and supervision of the Iranian Navy.
According to a statement published by the semi-official Tasnim News agency, the ships that passed included oil tankers and container ships, which received security clearance from the Revolutionary Guard Navy.
"The ships passed through the strategic waterway during the last day and night with coordination and security provided by our forces," the IRGC statement said.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard also declared that it is exercising what it called "intelligent control" over the Strait of Hormuz, while warning of a harsh response to any threat.
"Any act of aggression will be met with a devastating blow," the IRGC Navy warned.
CNN reported that it was unable to independently verify the figures released by the Iranian side.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most strategic maritime transport corridors in the world, as a large portion of global oil and gas supplies pass through this waterway.
