Israeli media reports that the IDF carried out a series of airstrikes on Rafah and other areas in the southern Gaza Strip, following an "exchange of fire" with Hamas members.
So far there is no information about the victims.
According to Channel 12 television, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a telephone conversation about the situation with Defense Minister Israel Katz and senior military officials.
Both Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
According to the army, on Friday, several terrorists emerged from a tunnel in the Rafah area and opened fire on Israeli forces, without causing any injuries.
On Saturday in Washington, the State Department said it had received "credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza."
The Foreign Ministry said the planned attack on Palestinian civilians would constitute a "direct and serious violation of the ceasefire agreement."
"In the event that Hamas continues with this attack, measures will be taken to protect the people of Gaza and maintain the integrity of the ceasefire," the ministry said in a statement, without giving further details.
