The US shocks Europe: Within 20 years, its civilization will disappear

The US president blames the EU and migration for fueling the continent-wide decline in his official National Security Strategy...

US President Donald Trump and his administration blame the EU and migration for what they call an inevitable, total cultural disintegration in Europe.

This explosive claim is made in the US National Security Strategy, which acknowledges that Europe has economic problems but says they are "eclipsed by the real and bleak prospect of the extinction of civilization" within the next 20 years.

"The biggest issues facing Europe include the activities of the European Union and other transnational bodies that undermine political freedom and sovereignty, migration policies that are transforming the continent and creating conflict, censorship of free speech and suppression of political opposition, declining birth rates, and the loss of national identities and self-confidence," the Trump administration says in the 33-page document released overnight.

This document is expected to find deep resonance among most of Europe's far-right parties, whose election platforms are based largely on criticism of the EU, demands to curb migration from Muslim-majority and non-European countries, and a patriotic drive to reverse the perceived decline of their countries.

The new security strategy offers a clear ideological alignment between US President Donald Trump's populist MAGA movement and Europe's nationalist parties.

The US administration, which has developed increasingly close ties with far-right parties in countries such as Germany and Spain, seems to be hinting that it could help ideologically aligned European parties.

"America encourages its political allies in Europe to promote this revival of spirit, and the growing influence of European patriotic parties indeed gives cause for great optimism," the strategy states.

The document is a rare formal explanation of Trump's foreign policy vision from his administration.

Such strategies, which presidents typically release once per term, can help shape how parts of the US government allocate budgets and set policy priorities.

In an introductory note to the strategy, Trump called it a "roadmap to ensuring that America remains the greatest and most successful nation in human history and the home of freedom on earth."

The Trump administration acknowledges that "Europe remains strategically and culturally vital to the United States," but its views on the continent are consistent with the administration's negative public statements in the past.

Vice President JD Vance shocked the mainstream political class at the Munich Security Conference in February by attacking Europe on migration and free speech.

The document also echoes the racist “great replacement” conspiracy theory, which claims that elites are conspiring to reduce the voting power of white Europeans by opening their countries’ doors to immigration from the African continent, specifically Muslim countries.

"In the long term, it is more than plausible that within a few decades, some NATO members will become non-European in majority," the document states.

The European Commission's chief spokeswoman, Paula Pinho, told reporters that she was aware of "the publication of this report" but had not had "time to review it", adding that the EU executive would "certainly" make its position known in due course.

The US emphasizes that it is in America's interest for the Kremlin's war to stop, including restoring "strategic stability" with Russia.

However, the US administration claims that “unstable minority governments” in Europe have “unrealistic expectations for war,” while also suggesting that they are hindering the peace process. The comments come as European leaders privately warn that Washington could “betray” Ukraine during peace negotiations with Moscow.

In contrast to NATO's open-door policy for candidate countries, the US administration also wants to promote "the end of the perception and prevention of the reality of NATO as a constantly expanding alliance."

While it's no secret that Trump doesn't want Ukraine to join NATO, that was also Washington's stance under his predecessor Joe Biden. /Adapted from Politico/
