There are still dozens of ads promoting "safe to Britain" dinghy crossings from France to England on TikTok...
Suspected migrant smugglers continue to openly advertise routes to the United Kingdom on TikTok, despite a crackdown on online posts promoting illegal crossings across the English Channel.
Within minutes of searching for Albanian terms on TikTok, the Daily Express found several accounts that appeared to be promoting trips to Britain on small dinghies, with posts showing maps of the English Channel, British flags and descriptions asking users to contact them for more information.
When searching for terms in Albanian that translate into English as “departure England,” “dinghy England,” “France England,” or “road England,” several videos appeared that appeared to advertise trips across the English Channel. Within just five minutes of searching, at least four such accounts were found.
For example, a user named @calaisdover_ posted a video from the coast showing a helicopter in the sky, most likely border patrol, with the caption: "there is no helicopter that can stop Albanians from fleeing to the king."
Another account, named @rrugukworld, was even more direct. It posted a Google Maps map of the English Channel connecting France to Britain, with the caption: "1 hour and 52 minutes. Write to me for information."
This account, which published another ad this week, also shared a video of a dinghy, with the caption: "departures every day at a very cheap price."
Another post from @nisje_per_angli read: "We make sea crossings every day. Anyone who is ready/interested in leaving, write/message us."
One of the posts was viewed by more than a thousand users.
It has previously been reported that Albanian criminal gangs are advertising English Channel crossings for as little as £150, far less than the average of around £2,000 per person.
The UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) and Border Force officials believe such low offers could be scams targeting vulnerable migrants who are short of money, with fraudsters claiming to offer passes that do not actually exist. However, gangs may also have lowered prices due to falling demand.
The number of Albanians crossing in small dinghies to Britain peaked at 12,700 people in 2022. That same year, Britain and Albania signed a deportation agreement to deter and crack down on criminal networks, as Albanians became the main nationality identified in dinghy arrivals.
After the authorities cracked down, the number of crossings fell sharply, to less than 10 migrants per month. The National Anti-Crime Agency has previously warned that organized crime groups dealing with illegal immigration use social media to advertise illegal crossings and that some criminals use fake advertisements to deceive potential migrants.
The agency said more than 10,000 posts, pages or accounts linked to organised immigration crime were removed in 2025 after reports were made to them. However, research on TikTok suggests that accounts using Albanian-language advertisements for routes to Britain are still easy to find.
When users search for these ads, the platform displays a warning that says: "know the risks, criminal networks take advantage of people trying to escape conflict and poverty."
According to TikTok, between October and December 2025, 98.6% of the content the platform removed for violating its human exploitation policies was removed before it was reported. In March 2023, the company introduced several warning measures in the platform's searches to inform users about the risks of trafficking and migrant smuggling and help them make informed decisions. / Pamphlet /
