The Supreme Court has published the final list of candidates who meet the legal requirements to be elected members of the High Judicial Council (HJC), within the framework of the procedure launched on June 26, 2026 for the replacement of three members whose mandate ends at the end of the year.

There are seven judges in the race, divided according to the levels of the judicial system: two from the Supreme Court, two from the courts of appeal, and three from the courts of first instance.

The candidates are:

Arbena Ahmeti – High Court;
Sandër Simoni – High Court;
Igerta Hysi – Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime;
Fatri Islamaj – Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction of Tirana;
Matilda Llangozi – Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Tirana;
Brunilda Kadi – Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Tirana;
Manjola Xhaxho – Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction of Tirana.

The President of the Supreme Court has set September 25, 2026, at 10:00, as the date for the General Meeting of Judges, where the three new members of the Supreme Court will be elected.

The process takes place after the five-year mandate of the three current members of the Supreme Court of Justice ends on December 12, 2026, namely one representative from the courts of first instance, one from the courts of appeal, and one from the Supreme Court.
