Stiven Shpendi's future remains in suspense, the Albanian striker refuses
Albanian striker, Stiven Shpendi

The future of Stiven Shpendi continues to be one of the most discussed issues in the summer transfer window in Italian football. The Albanian Empoli striker remains in the spotlight of several clubs, while Padova has taken concrete steps to transfer him, although a final agreement has not yet been reached.

According to Italian media reports, Padova and Empoli have reached a preliminary agreement for the striker's transfer. Sources close to the Tuscan club have revealed that the two clubs have agreed on the economic parameters of the operation, with the transfer value expected to be around 4.5 million euros.

However, the main obstacle to finalizing the deal is the player himself. Shpendi has so far not given the green light for a move to Padova, leaving the deal on hold. The main reason is related to the striker's desire to continue his career in Serie A, where he hopes to find a new opportunity.

The 22-year-old Albanian is awaiting developments from Italian top flight clubs, with Cagliari and Frosinone mentioned as two teams interested in his services. Shpendi wants to have an opportunity to play at the highest level and for this reason has not rushed to accept Padova's offer.

On the other hand, the Venetian club is trying to convince the striker with a significant financial offer and an ambitious project for the new season. However, until now, Padova's proposal has not been enough to change the footballer's attitude.

Another point that is complicating the negotiations is the salary request. According to Italian media, the financial demands of Shpendi's representatives are considered high by Padova's current standards. If accepted, the Albanian striker would become one of the highest-paid players in the squad, making it more difficult to reach an agreement.

Padova's interest in Shpendi comes at a time when the club is looking for a striker for next season. Sporting director Massimo Mirabelli is working to provide coach Antonio Calabro with reinforcements in the offensive department.

Initially, Padova's main target was Valid Khedira, the striker owned by Napoli, but the difficulties in completing this transfer and Verona's interest have led to Shpendi's name returning strongly to the club's list.

However, other reports in Italy claim that Khedira still remains Padova's first choice, while Shpendi is seen as the main alternative in case negotiations for the Moroccan striker fail. Despite the differences in media interpretations, one thing is clear: the name of the Albanian striker remains one of the Italian club's most serious targets.

Contacts between Padova and Empoli continue, as both clubs seek the right formula to close the operation. But the final decision remains in the hands of Shpendi, who is waiting to see if a concrete offer comes from Serie A.

For the moment, the situation remains open: Padova has reached an agreement with Empoli and is ready to invest a considerable amount for his card, but the transfer cannot be completed without the player's approval.

Meanwhile, Shpendi continues to keep open the possibility of remaining in the elite of Italian football, awaiting developments from Cagliari, Frosinone or another Serie A club. The Albanian striker is also awaiting an invitation from coach Maran for the September matches, where Albania will return to the field for the Nations League.
