Journalist Artan Hoxha said that President Donald Trump's candidate for ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, will be very different from the other four ambassadors who have been to Albania.
Hoxha also stated that, unlike his predecessors, Wendt is not expected to be a diplomat who shares political interests, but a figure focused on security and US strategic objectives in the region.
" An ambassador is coming that all parties will accept as an ambassador equidistant from each other. The problem we have had in the last decade has been that the ambassador who came to Albania has been catapulted by interests that have been made in the US and this seems to have made public opinion in Albania skeptical. We have never before had so much skepticism from Albanian citizens towards the positions held by a US ambassador.
"On the other hand, he is a military man who has had a long career, but has spent a good part of his life with the Green Berets, who are the elite of the US military. A man comes who leaves no room for doubt, but waits for you and shows that the US is clear in its objectives. And what attracted attention today was that he took some terms that in the past have not been so noticeable and have not been so universally announced ," he said in an interview for the "Now" show on "EuronewsAlbania".
