Following the intervention of SPAK and the State Police in the Inspectorate of Territorial Protection in Tirana, where two employees were arrested and two others were declared wanted for corruption and abuse of office, comes the official reaction of this institution. But, as often happens in the Albanian administration, the reaction is an attempt to wash one's hands and shift the blame to "individual actions."
In a statement to the media, IMT Tirana condemns the incident and announces that it has dismissed the employees involved in the corruption affair. The institution says it completely distances itself from the acts in question, emphasizing that these do not represent the work and mission of IMT.
"This case does not represent the work and mission of IMT... We are committed to integrity, transparency and professionalism... We encourage citizens to report similar cases," says the IMT's standard response.
Reaction of the Inspectorate of Territorial Protection, Tirana:
Given the incident that occurred today, where four employees of the Territory Protection Inspectorate seriously violated the law, we inform public opinion that our institution firmly condemns this case.
Such behavior is unacceptable and IMT completely distances itself from these individual actions. All necessary administrative measures have been immediately taken against the individuals involved, including their dismissal from duty.
We emphasize that this case does not represent the work and mission of IMT. Our institution remains committed to continuing its work with integrity, transparency and professionalism, in the service of the public interest and in the protection of the territory.
IMT encourages law enforcement agencies to fully cooperate and punish the case according to the law, as well as encourages every citizen to report similar cases, so that no shadow of doubt remains about the integrity of the institution and its mission.
