Secret ballot, PDK-LDK-AAK do not withdraw: We are defending the Republic of Kosovo

The institutional deadlock in Kosovo continues.

The Assembly has failed to convene for the 44th time, deepening the political crisis that began after the February 9 elections.

The next session to form the committee for the secret ballot of the Speaker of the Assembly did not receive the support of the opposition parties, PDK, LDK and AAK.

The session was adjourned and is scheduled to continue on July 11, at 11:00.

Despite the interruption, opposition MPs used the podium to accuse the Vetevendosje Movement of blocking the vote and violating the Constitution.

PDK MP Artan Behrami addressed the session leaders in an ironic tone, demanding a return to constitutionality: "Ud, I invite the chairman to return to the agenda item."

Meanwhile, Paris Guri from LDK verbally clashed with VV MPs, addressing MP Fitore Pacolli in a critical tone: "Fitore, what are you laughing at, did you return 200 thousand euros?"

There was no shortage of proposals for members of the commission. AAK MP, Time Kadrijaj, proposed Albin Kurti, saying: "We have the proposal: Albin Kurti. The one who is blocking me must unblock me."

PDK MP, Përparim Gruda, said that their opposition to secret voting is not only procedural, but to protect constitutional principles.

 "If today we allow the Constitution to be violated for a chair, tomorrow it will be violated for a government and the day after tomorrow for a law," he said.

LDK MP Alban Zogaj also expressed his criticism, stating: "44 times violation of the will of the citizens, but also of the Constitution. The country is sinking into a deep socio-economic crisis."

MP Kadrijaj also stressed the importance of defending republican principles. "We will defend the Republic, not the Republic of LVV, but the Republic of Kosovo. We have an obligation to the citizens and the families of the martyrs," she said.

Five months after the elections, Kosovo still has no new institutions. The Constitutional Court ruling has determined that the Assembly must be constituted no later than July 26, but parliamentary parties are unable to reach a consensus.

Albulena Haxhiu, the VV candidate for parliamentary speaker, has failed to secure the necessary 62 votes in six attempts so far.
