A video circulating widely on social media has caused widespread reactions after it shows Oldham Athletic striker Kian Harratt hitting a British tourist with a chair during an argument near a pool at a hotel in Ibiza.
According to British media, the clash took place on June 21, when Harratt and three of his friends are accused of behaving inappropriately towards a group of female tourists. British tourist Kyle Crawford told The Sun that the 23-year-old and his friends were “behaving badly” with the women before the situation escalated into violence.
In two videos published online, one appears to show the moment when the footballer, identified by his distinctive beard and black shorts, throws a chair at one of the holidaymakers.
Kyle, who intervened with his friend to protect the women, said: "We didn't know who they were. We just saw them behaving badly and we spoke up to protect the girls. This video doesn't fully show the situation, we just acted like gentlemen."
He later identified Harratt after watching the video again. According to him, the footballer and his friends were throwing small rugby balls at women in the pool, one of whom was later hit by a chair.
Kian Harratt, 23, is a striker for League Two club Oldham Athletic. He is originally from Pontefract and has come through the academy at Huddersfield Town, having previously played for Leeds United, Barnsley, Fleetwood, Bradford and Port Vale. In 2024, he was banned for four months after placing 484 bets on football matches, including on his own team. He was fined £3,200 for the offences.
At the time of publication, Oldham Athletic has not officially commented on the incident.
