Serbian football has been shaken by a serious incident today, as Radnicki 1923 coach Mladen Zizovic has passed away after collapsing on the bench during a Serbian Super League match against Mladost Lucani.
The incident occurred in the 20th minute of tonight's match, when the 44-year-old collapsed in front of his bench. He was given medical attention and taken to hospital by ambulance. The referee then restarted the match, only to stop it before the end of the first half when the tragic news was announced that he had not made it.
Zizovic was a well-known figure in Balkan football. During his playing career, he stood out with Zrinjski Mostar, while also wearing the jerseys of Borac Banja Luka and KF Tirana, where he played in the 2010-11 season in the Superior Category (18 matches, 1 goal).
After hanging up his boots, he began his coaching career in 2017, managing teams such as Radnik Bijeljina, Zrinjski Mostar, Sloboda Tuzla, Al Kholood (Saudi Arabia), Skopje (North Macedonia), Borac Banja Luka and most recently Radnicki. Just a month earlier, he had taken charge of Radnicki 1923, where he managed only two matches before his untimely passing.
