After two days of searching, the body of Erkin Lika, a 38-year-old who lost his life while performing a rope exercise at the Vasha Bridge in Klos, has been found.
The young man's body was located in the waters of the Mat River and was recovered by rescuers, after a search and rescue operation that lasted two days.
The serious incident occurred on Saturday afternoon. According to preliminary data, Erkin Lika, a hiking, mountaineering and cave exploration enthusiast, was doing a rope exercise when he allegedly fell from the Ura e Vasha (Vash Bridge) into the Mat River.
Lika was also part of the Albanian Mountain Search and Rescue Service and one of the founders of the speleological organization, the Albanian Speleological Association.
According to preliminary investigations, the 38-year-old may have fallen into a sinkhole in the river, which made his location and the search operation difficult. Authorities are continuing their efforts to fully clarify the circumstances of this tragic event.
