Vllaznia gave another lesson in strength and heart to Europe, turning everything upside down on Latvian soil. After losing 0-1 in Elbasan to Dugavpils, the Shkodra team reacted in the best possible way in the return match in Riga, winning 2-4 and securing passage to the second qualifying round of the Conference League.
Coach Martini's Red and Blues started the match with a bang, taking the lead with Mensah's goal in the 22nd minute. But just a few minutes later, the home team shocked with two quick goals, momentarily turning the tide of the match.
However, neither the pressure nor the result stopped the competitive spirit of this team. At the end of the first half, it was Yago who brought the 2-2 draw and restored hope. In the second half, everything turned into an Albanian spectacle: Dodaj scored the third goal in the 74th minute, bringing the overall score to 3-3, while in the 87th minute, it was Mala who put the lid on a well-deserved qualification.
Vllaznia will now face the winner of the Vikingur Reykjavik – Malisheva match in the next round. If Malisheva achieves its comeback in the second leg, we will have an exciting Albanian showdown on the international stage – a derby that will further ignite the atmosphere of the Conference League.
For Vllaznia, this is more than a qualification; it is the return of pride and a sign of European ambition.
