Parashqevi Simaku, one of the greatest icons of Albanian music, has recently recounted details about the period of her life when she lived on the streets of New York, homeless and away from the spotlight.
In an interview for the show "Opinion" with Blendi Fevziu, the singer explained the truth behind the photos that shocked the network a few months ago, where she appeared abandoned on the streets of America.
Simak was surprised by the statement as he stated that he had chosen that lifestyle himself, saying:
“Why not be outside? I was outside because I chose to be. At that time, hundreds of Americans were outside like me. We had places we could go, but I chose to be outside. It was mine. I call it a good part of my life, absolutely.”
Asked why she had chosen such an unusual path for someone who was once at the top of Albanian music, the singer replied:
"Let's go have fun, because people don't want to hear about forgotten pasts."
