Ilir Alimehmeti demands that the Democratic Party's analysis process for the May 11 elections be accompanied by a reformatting of its forums, as well as leadership positions.
In an interview with RTSH, Alimehmeti said that even though the mandate of the governing body ends in 2026, changes are not taboo and as such, they can be brought closer in time.
"The sooner the work on reformatting begins, the better off we are. The next electoral race is definitely the 2027 local elections. So, will we have an organization that optimizes these elections in 2027 or not, that is the question. And in this regard, definitely reformatting, reoxygenating and moving ideas and thoughts, especially, we must give up not saying things, as it does not move us forward," Alimehmeti said in an interview for "RTSH".
Regardless of Sali Berisha's stance, the race for the position of Chairman of the Democratic Party seems welcome for Ilir Alimehmet.
"If someone has ambition and wants to run, absolutely every day that passes is lost and we must take this into account. And this cannot depend only on Dr. Berisha running or in May. If so, it means that we have a problem with this person who may or may not have leadership ambitions ," he says.
Although he joined the DP as a new arrival with the return of Berisha to its leadership, he says that the Re-establishment process did not meet all expectations.
"A wide opening is needed, a wide oxygen because there is energy and there are people with contribution in the Democratic Party ," said Alimehmeti.
Ilir Alimehmeti calls on the conscience of the DP leaders to return their eyes to meritocracy in order to evaluate the contribution given by the democrats in various forms. He also brings into reference Ervin Salianji, who, as he says, is the head of a political prison.
