Obituary/ Bujar Bukoshi, the "mysterious" Prime Minister with many
Bujar Bukoshi /

Bukoshi, the first Prime Minister of Kosovo and his greatest political enigma...

The tragic passing of Bujar Bukoshi has brought, as usually happens in media and political environments, an avalanche of condolences and statuses, supposedly painful.

Doctor Bukoshi, a central figure in Kosovo during the resistance during the occupation by Serbia, besides being the prime minister of Ibrahim Rugova, and then his opponent, at the same time a supporter of Sali Berisha, active in the tragic events of 1997-1998 and then his political decline after the liberation and independence of Kosovo.

Why was Bujar Bukoshi, after liberation, a lesser political factor than a Big Brother Kosovo character?

This is precisely a great mystery, which of course, despite all the good words that are said in passing, also has the gray parts of a personality's life. Which in fact should have been but was not. Doctor Bujari, the man who could have become an icon, be it for the first great act he performed, the discovery of the poisoning of children from water contaminated by the Serbian government.

Bujar Bukoshi is one of the first characters to show the world the true face of Serbia towards Albanians, that genocidal logic, which he practiced with a platform of several written and spontaneous movements.

In 1991, a major tragedy occurred in Kosovo, when a large number of children became seriously ill, with a very high toxic load from drinking water.

Bujar Bukoshi and a group of his colleagues managed to discover that this poisoning was a diversionary act by the Serbian services. Bukoshi managed with admirable skill to "smuggle" the samples taken from the poisoned water to do the analyses in the West. Which were conducted in Germany. The analyses that revealed that we are dealing with a terrible chemical substance with light radioactivity that quickly degrades the human organism.

When Germany conducted analyses of the poisoning of the now-deceased Russian opposition leader Alex Navalny many years later, it concluded that the poison was not unknown; it had been used in Kosovo in 1991. The question is the origin of this substance - did it originate in Belgrade or Moscow?

Bujar Bukoshi was the man who gave the West a hard fact about how dangerous the Milosevic regime was. Ibrahim Rugova then made him prime minister, as he was actually number 2 in the LDK and its Secretary General.

Bukoshi moved his government to Germany, where he had studied for his doctorate. In the country that was becoming the European power of the century. Which managed with two or three decisions to detach Croatia and Slovenia from Yugoslavia, as well as take more than half of Bosnia. With a powerful influence in Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and beyond.

This is where the mystery of Bujar Bukoshi as prime minister really begins. In 1996, he clashed with Ibrahim Rugova, becoming a radical and then allied with Sali Berisha to remove Rugova.

It was the time when the first private bank, Dardania Bank, was opened in Tirana, which is said to have managed the money of the Kosovo government, but like any bank, not only them. There are even reports that the first money from Albanian drug trafficking entered there. It was the first bank in a country where private banks were not allowed.

From that interview in the German media, in 1996, when Bukoshi spoke of an armed clash against Serbia, he broke with Rugova and cut all ties with Washington. But not with Sali Berisha, whom he financed, and the latter supported him to have the bases of the disbanded FARK. The different version of the KLA, which today is seen more clearly that it was not a Serbian variant of the resistance, but a variant linked to Germany.

From which came the weapons that supplied FARK. It was here that the CIA intervened to stop the German plan, which it had attacked since 1992, when Berlin supported an extreme variant to open the southern front, during the war in Croatia. So to start the war in Kosovo at the same time. A war that the Americans and Ibrahim Rugova strongly opposed.

Bukoshi does not belong to this phase, but in 1998, he even became Sali Berisha's partner, precisely at the time when Fatos Nano introduced Hashim Thaçi's KLA to the Americans, that is, the leftists of Switzerland, not Germany.

There also occurred the great ordeal of Bujar Bukoshi, who created his profile in Albania, as a kind of Xhafer Deve of the late 20th century. Who ordered his soldiers to fight other Albanians.

On September 14, 1998. No matter how much he spent, money, energy, and media VIPs in Tirana and Pristina, which he paid for with stamps at a time when the Albanian lek had no value, Bujar Bukoshi has the stamp of Deva. Even though it may not belong to him.

However, the fact is that the Doctor who discovered the terrible genocide of poisoning was forgotten after the liberation of Kosovo. His party, LDK, forgot him, the Kosovo media forgot him. He became a minister in one of the “Thaci governments” only as a result of a pact with Ukë Rugova, who made an alliance with Hashim Thaci when he was arrested for trafficking Italian visas.

But that's all, no one, not even political or academic circles, where to be honest, Doctor Bujari was higher than many people with degrees that aren't worth a cent, focused on this important name.

This is a mystery that cannot be covered with good words after death. Bujar Bukoshi is not just any name that can be covered with the simple expression: "he was good", "he gave us as many marks as we asked for", requires a realistic approach beyond the light and shadows because he was the first Prime Minister of Kosovo. But which is actually its greatest political enigma.../ Pamphlet
