Former MP Dashamir Sula, in an interview with journalist Dritan Hila, recounted an important moment that, according to him, could have changed the course of developments within the Democratic Party.
"I pointed my hand at Berisha's heart. I said: 'Doctor, please, don't listen to those close to you,'" said Sula, adding that this conversation had taken place before Sali Berisha was placed under house arrest.
Sula stressed that his warning to Berisha was clear: "I told him: 'Don't leave our party in the hands of Flamur Noka because we've lost our necks.' But Berisha didn't listen to me and here we are today."
"I pointed my hand at Berisha's heart, I said: "Doctor, please don't listen to those close to you."
I told him this when he was not yet under house arrest. If Sali Berisha were under house arrest today, I would not be speaking today.
I would say: "It's not his fault, he was under house arrest, that's why he lost the elections. They lost this election." But then I said: "Don't leave our party in the hands of Flamur Noka because we've lost our necks." But Berisha didn't listen to me and here we are today," said Sula.
His statements come at a moment of reflection on the election results and the direction of the Democratic Party.
