The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, published a video message today accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of lying with his statements regarding the increase in salaries and pensions.
Berisha described the bonus for pensioners as "minimal and ridiculous", stating that: "The pension bonus for 690 thousand pensioners is among the most ridiculous. It is 2 kilos of tomatoes per month. This is the pension supplement according to the current government."
He stressed that wages in Albania remain the lowest in the region, while adding that the situation has worsened compared to 2013.
According to the leading democrat, the government also bears responsibility for mass emigration, referring to Eurostat data.
"In just 10 years, 1,099,000 Albanians have left... at least 45 to 47% of Albanians left Albania," Berisha declared.
The leader of the DP also criticized the organization of the diaspora convention, while stating that the prime minister is "one of the most vicious enemies of the Albanian nation."
He also questioned the figures for foreign investments, stating that a large part of them are not real investments.
"Out of 1.6 billion euros, 800 million are not foreign investments, but reinvestments... while less than 300 million euros are direct investments," Berisha said.
According to him, the economy is in decline, citing a contraction in industrial and agricultural production, as well as a decline in exports.
"The economic growth that the government reports is entirely dictated by high taxes and the large number of salaried employees in the state," Berisha concluded.
