Edi Rama abandoned the Sultan for the Crown Prince; Erdogan starts revenge with

Edi Rama with Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Salman /

Rama did not include Erdogan's people in the SP lists. The rapprochement with Saudi Arabia and Prince Bin Salman has upset Ankara, which is responding with an electoral boycott, anti-Saudi media and a soft cultural war...

The May 11 elections were perhaps the first in the history of the "Renaissance" where Edi Rama did not have the blessing and open support of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The former relationship, which began with stadiums and grew with mosques and fraternal ceremonies, is today in the phase of silent clash, and as after every clash that comes from the East, revenge is organized, gentle and very deep.

A few months ago, Erdogan had requested that several candidates close to his community in Albania be included in the Socialist Party's list. But Rama "fulfilled" the order with a front name, Edlira Dyrmishaj, a woman of faith and integrity, but who was not from the "Sultan's list."

This political move was seen as a technical fulfillment and a real rejection. And the result was not long in coming: the congregation voted with their feet, not with their hands. Neither the imams, nor the hoxhalars, nor the early structures of political Islam aligned themselves with the SP.
For the first time, Rama did not win with Erdogan's help. And he knew it.

The reason? Simple: Rama is getting closer to Riyadh. More precisely, with Crown Prince Mohamed Bin Salman, Donald Trump's favorite and the man who has really invested money in Albania, starting with the resort project in Sazan, which is expected to become a new diplomatic card.

On the other hand, Erdogan has not forgotten Rama's humiliation before Giorgia Meloni, nor the "stakes" at the Tirana summit, nor the gifts for Mrs. Emine, nor the removal of Turkish influence in segments of the Albanian government. Thus began the soft revenge: the congregation was ordered to boycott.

Already, media outlets linked to pro-Erdogan circles have launched a fierce campaign against Saudi Arabia. One of them is "Majlis", which has personally attacked Prince Bin Salman, ridiculed the role of women in Saudi protocol, and activated senior analysts of political Islam who have been invested in building a line oriented towards Ankara since 1992.

But the attack does not stop in the media. TIKA, Erdogan’s famous agency, has restored historical objects unilaterally, with the aim of creating an imported Ottoman heritage.
In Preza, it has introduced a copy of the Quran “brought from Turkey”, which is sold as an authentic relic. In Shkodra Castle, it sought to build a mosque on the ruins of a medieval church.
The KMSH forbade it. The Americans made it clear that this is not Albanian heritage.

Even the Great Mosque in Tirana, despite the millions invested, is not filled on Fridays. Why? Because God's people do not like the games of the sultans. They do not want Islam as a political project, and they do not accept the mosque as an electoral headquarters.

So, Erdogan's billions in Albania, from the stadium to the gymnasium, from mosques to cultural projects, failed to produce a convinced electorate. As happened in Bosnia. As happened in Sandzak.

Today, Edi Rama is in a delicate position. He no longer has Erdogan's "amen," but he has to behave like a statesman in front of MBS. And as in any battle between East and West, he tries to sell neutrality while pursuing his own interests.

But the Sultans do not forget. And the congregation knows it. Therefore, the boycott in the May 11 elections was not political; it was religious, silent and ordered./ Pamphlet
