The photo below is what triple murderer Sokol Hoxha looks like today, after 30 years on the run, who is facing extradition to the US as wanted by Albania and Belgium for three murders.

The photo published by Top Channel shows Sokol Hoxha, 51, moments after being detained by US Marshall on May 5 in the state of Ohio.

Two years ago, Interpol Tirana was put into action after information that Sokol Hoxha was serving a sentence in an American prison for criminal offenses committed there.

Given that the Albanian and Belgian police only had a photo of Sokol Hoxha and no fingerprints, identification was extremely difficult.

The British came into play in this operation, as they had information about Sokol Hoxha after he had sought asylum in England and received a British passport, as reported by the "Daily Telegraph" in London.

When the positive identification occurred, the day of the end of the sentence was awaited, and at the moment when Sokol Hoxha was leaving the Ohio prison and thought he had gained freedom, he was faced with a surprise.

US Marshals reported his arrest as a person wanted by Albania and Belgium.

For three decades, Sokol Hoxha was the most wanted Albanian in the world by Interpol Tirana after he executed two brothers in Patos in 1997 and was sentenced in absentia to 25 years in prison for murder in collaboration in 2000.

In the same year, he executed a 19-year-old Albanian woman in Belgium whom he had exploited for prostitution, a crime for which the Belgian justice system sentenced him to life imprisonment three years later.

And while Albania, through the Directorate of Foreign Relations at the Ministry of Justice, and Belgium are competing over who will take Sokol Hoxha, it seems that the legal circumstances are in Belgium's favor.

If we refer to the Criminal Procedure Code, the sentence of 25 years in prison given to Sokol Hoxha by the Fier court in 2000, but never executed, is now statute-barred.

As Sokol Hoxha faces extradition proceedings in a US court, he is initially expected to be charged with illegally entering the US using a passport obtained through fraud with false generalities.
