
Two people, citizens of Kosovo, were injured after the small sport plane they were flying crashed into Lake Mavrovo on December 12.
The Internal Affairs Department in Tetovo said that two Kosovo Albanians, aged 41 and 64, were taken to Gostivar Hospital for medical treatment. The small plane, according to the institution, crashed into Lake Mavrovo, near the Belic Canal dam, at 12:35.
" According to the report, two Kosovar citizens, XH.P. and DM, who was driving the aircraft, managed to get out of the plane on the ground. They suffered injuries and were transported to the Gostivar Medical Center to receive medical assistance ," the announcement said.
The 64-year-old pilot told police that the plane he was piloting had an engine problem and he was then forced to land in the lake.
The Crisis Management Center in North Macedonia announced that after receiving information about the plane crash, emergency services, the regional crisis management center for rapid intervention, and the Internal Affairs Sector in Tetovo immediately arrived at the scene.
According to media in North Macedonia, the Piper aircraft can carry up to four people. The crashed plane was manufactured in 1961 and is registered in the United States in the name of the 64-year-old.
