Handcuffed and charred in car, mystery over macabre crime in Greece; suspicions

A brutal crime was discovered yesterday afternoon in Greece in the area of Skourta, Boeotia, where a man was found dead in the back seat of a car.

The victim was found burned with his hands handcuffed behind his back. The burnt car with the body inside was discovered by a hunter and he is suspected to be of Albanian origin.

Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered that there was a charred person inside the vehicle, while handcuffs were also found inside, an element that reinforces the idea that we are dealing with a crime.

Hellenic Police Press Spokesperson Constantia Dimoglidou confirmed that the vehicle has been transferred to forensic laboratories, where data will be collected to identify DNA and fingerprints, while efforts are being made to identify the body, a process that is very difficult due to the degree of carbonization.

According to police, the car and body remained at the scene for about 48 hours before being found. Investigations are at their peak by the Homicide Department and the Organized Crime Directorate, while authorities are reviewing reported disappearances in recent days to arrive at the identity of the victim.

Police are not ruling out any scenarios, however, initial evidence indicates that this was a well-planned act, with the perpetrators choosing a particularly isolated location, perhaps knowing the area very well.
