A life-sentenced prisoner has lost his life during medical treatment at the Mother Teresa Hospital Center in Tirana, where he was hospitalized in serious health condition.
The victim is Shpëtim Çeliku, who was serving his sentence in a high-security prison. He passed away at around 08:10 at the Central Reanimation of QSUNT, where he had been sent for specialized treatment.
Death occurred as a result of cardiorespiratory arrest.
Çeliku, a resident of Vlora, was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the Vlora District Court for the criminal offense of "Murder in other aggravating circumstances", after being arrested on 09.12.2012.
He had 8 years and 5 months left to serve of his sentence. On 15.10.2025 he was transferred to the Prison Hospital from the Shkodra Penitentiary Institution, and then sent to the QSUNT, where he passed away.
