Two Albanian citizens ended up in handcuffs in Rome after an operation conducted by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Carabinieri of the Ottavia Station, on suspicion of possession and distribution of narcotics.
The operation began on May 10, after officers stopped a rental vehicle in the Via Ipogeo degli Ottavi area for inspection. The driver's tense behavior prompted the police to conduct more detailed checks.
During the search of the car, the carabinieri discovered three packages hidden in the side of the door, containing 11 doses of cocaine. The driver was also found to have around 400 euros in cash.
The investigations continued in an apartment in the "Casal del Marmo" area, owned by the arrested person, where another 21-year-old Albanian also lived.
Inside the apartment, police found 270 grams of cocaine, some divided into doses and the rest vacuum-packed. Also seized were 40,120 euros suspected to be proceeds of crime, three notebooks with notes on drug movements, and packaging equipment, including a vacuum machine and two electronic scales.
The checks were also extended to other vehicles connected to the two young men, where other doses of drugs were found.
At the end of the operation, authorities seized the drugs, money and two vehicles. The two Albanians were transferred to the "Regina Coeli" prison, while the court confirmed the arrest and ordered pre-trial detention.
