Do you feel it, Mr. Prime Minister?

Six days of revolt where the cry "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison" breaks the thirty-year rule. Even Alex Soros has let his old friend down, while the German diaspora strikes again...

Written by: Dritan Shkreli

For six days in a row, the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard has turned into Edi Rama's nightmare, because those who came out there are neither the sold-out opposition nor Sali Berisha sympathizers, they are simply citizens calling out the prime minister by name and with a slogan that has put him in real panic.

The slogan "Rama in prison, Berisha in prison" puts both names in the same sentence, two faces of the same Albania that has chewed up and spat out its citizens, and Rama knows well that for the first time in thirty years he has no one to bargain with in anger.

I can't just throw around the "wild opposition" anymore because the opposition doesn't exist in that square and no party flag flies where thousands of people are demanding its head.

What burns the prime minister the most is that Sali Berisha, Rama's permanent ghost, is walking behind Edi Rama's back like a shadow that no one wants, but that Rama keeps alive only because he doesn't know how to govern without him.

Five demands have brought these citizens to the table in the square: Rama's resignation, transparency over government decision-making, taking political responsibilities from the executive, reviewing decisions that violate the public interest, and canceling that infamous project that ignited all this firestorm.

The Prime Minister has never once come out to speak to them, but instead has called them "scheming and cunning" and labeled them as "Nazi German gangs, Golden Dawn jackals," a scandalous insult that boomeranged back in his face.

The protesters responded that they are neither Greek nor Iranian agents, but simply Albanian citizens, and the government's reaction has been pure delegitimization, from "Iranians" to "Nazis."

This strategy has had the opposite effect and has increased anger instead of quelling it, because while Rama talks about external influences, the field of responses is expanding more and more every evening.

Europe rose up in protest and this is another thing that has driven Edi Rama crazy, because in Munich citizens gathered in front of the Albanian Consulate at Albert-Schweitzer-Strasse 62.

In Berlin, protesters gathered in front of the Embassy at Friedrichstrasse 231, while in Stockholm the rally took place in front of the Swedish Parliament, and these diaspora protests are not simply solidarity.

They are a clear message that this movement has crossed borders and that the Albanian state as an institution is taking the hit from the whole world.

The Germans sent a strong message to Rama by accepting the protests in front of the doors of Albanian representations on their soil, and this is no small feat for a prime minister who seeks Berlin's support for his every step.

In Stockholm, where law and order reign, the Swedish police allowed the rally because the demands of Albanian citizens were considered legitimate, and this leaves Edi Rama without any justification that it is about "unruly" or "conspired".

The wave does not stop here, because Saturday, June 6th brings Vlora at 11:00 at the Akërnia Hydroelectric Power Plant, plus Milan, Florence and London, while next week continues with Brussels in front of the European Parliament on June 7th.

Bologna, Skopje, and New York are on the map, and the first activist who said "this is just the beginning" is not wrong, because the map is being updated every day with new cities.

Rama is not afraid of any political party, because he has bought the parties, divided them and put them in his pocket one by one, but what is keeping him awake at night is this crowd without a head, without a flag, without any leader for the police to grab by the throat, and this time even his friend Alex Soros seems to have left him in the lurch, or worse yet: "He's got it in", as the people say. Therefore, it is worth addressing him with a question: Do you feel... (the end), Mr. Prime Minister?
