During the first six months of 2025, personal income tax revenues have increased significantly, exceeding not only the planned level, but also the results of the same period a year earlier.
Data from the Ministry of Finance show that from January to June, this fiscal item has provided the budget with 40.8 billion lek - about 8.6 billion lek or 26.6% more than in the first half of 2024. Compared to the initial plan, this amount is 5.4 billion lek higher, representing a realization of 15.4% above the target.
Increased formal employment, improved wage reporting in the private sector, and stronger tax controls are among the main factors that have influenced this performance. The Tax Administration reported 10,523 new employees compared to a year earlier, while higher wages in the public sector and in strategic areas such as technology, construction, and financial services have significantly expanded the taxable base.
Another important element has been the modernization of fiscal administration, through digital platforms such as e-filing and real-time fiscalization, which have increased transparency and efficiency in revenue collection./businessmag.al
