The Transparency Board has decided to reduce fuel prices in the country. According to the decision taken today, diesel will be sold for 2 lek less per liter, while gasoline will be sold for 4 lek less.

The retail price ceiling for diesel has been set at 195 lek per liter, while wholesale at 183 lek per liter. On the other hand, gasoline will be sold at no more than 182 lek per liter at retail and 170 lek per liter at wholesale.

The decision came into effect this Saturday at 1:20 PM and will remain in effect until the next Board meeting, where other possible changes in the market are expected to be reflected.

Authorities have called on market operators to implement the set prices, warning of measures up to suspension of activity for any violation.

Transparency Board Decision

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 195 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 183 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 182 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 170 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 23rd, at 1:20 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
