The Transparency Board has increased the price of fuel again. As of 3:00 PM today, diesel and gasoline will be sold at 215 lek per liter and 178 lek per liter, respectively.
Thus, diesel has increased by 6 lek per liter, while gasoline has increased by 3 lek per liter, following the latest decision of the Transparency Board.
Despite the price increase, based on the normative act, the 20% excise tax reduction will not be applied, because this measure only comes into effect if the price per liter exceeds 220 lek.
According to the decision, the retail price of SSH EN 590 standard diesel will be no more than 215 lek per liter, while the wholesale price will be no more than 203 lek per liter.
For SSH EN standard gasoline, the Board determined that the retail price should be no more than 178 lek per liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 166 lek per liter.

The authorities drew the attention of operators involved in the wholesale and retail trade of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision. According to the announcement, any violation found will be accompanied by a measure of suspension of activity.
The Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, stated that they remain committed to protecting consumer interests and maintaining fair competition in the market.
The Transparency Board on April 14, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:
✅The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard should be no more than 215 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 203 lek/liter.
✅The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 178 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 166 lek/liter.
????The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 14th, at 3:00 PM and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
⚠️We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
????In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail sales ceiling prices, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
