IDU warns of state capture and demands sanctions against the architects of the institutional crisis…
The resolution of the International Democracy Union , an organization led by the American Republican Party and representing the center-right of the democratic world, is not a formal text. It is a clear warning that Albania is moving towards a model where politics, crime and state institutions merge into a single control structure.
The document notes for the first time in an international text that our country risks turning into a captured state.
The IDU describes this situation as a threat to democracy, to regional stability, and to the security of Western allies. This is not an internal political opinion. It is a diagnosis that comes from outside, from an organization that represents major governments and parties in the US, Europe, and other countries around the world.
The resolution speaks of electoral manipulation, the use of state resources for political gain, the exploitation of controlled media, and the influence of organized crime on the economy. It speaks of justice institutions that have failed to build trust and a system that risks entering a vicious cycle of unaccountability.
This international blow should have been a wake-up call for every institution in Albania. But their silence shows that the problem is bigger than any public reaction. The resolution does not simply lay accusations. It calls for concrete steps. It calls for direct sanctions against officials who have seized the institutions, calls for increased monitoring of electoral processes, and demands that Albania see the West as an ally and not as an obstacle.
For Albanians, this resolution is not simply a political text. It shows that democracy in the country is at its weakest point. It shows that the institutions that were supposed to check the power are not doing so. It shows that political parties are not representing the public interest. It also shows that society is defenseless when the government uses state instruments instead of the law.
The IDU resolution is a clear call: Albania cannot remain on this trajectory any longer. If we continue like this, we will no longer have a state before we have democracy. We will no longer have institutions before we have separation of powers. We will no longer have elections before we have fair competition.
This is the moment when Albanian politics must take responsibility. It is the moment when justice institutions must act. It is the moment when society must understand that silence does not protect anyone. The resolution is an alarm. If it is not listened to now, the crisis will not be political, but state. Rezoluta e IDU eshte alarmante, po ashtu dhe thenia e gazetarit te TV, Robert Papa: "E keqja e Shqiperise ka vetem nje emer: Edi Rama". Se shpejti duket se do te kemi ndryshime te rendesishme ne atdheun tone.
