Eight days before the national elections in the Netherlands, the danger comes from Artificial Intelligence. The Dutch Data Protection Authority warned that Artificial Intelligence communication bots are “unreliable and clearly biased” when offering voting advice.
All chatbots tested by the authority end up choosing only two parties regardless of the question or commands given by the user.
In more than half of the cases, Artificial Intelligence suggested voting for either Geert Wilders' far-right Freedom Party (PVV) or the left-wing Groenlinks, led by former European Commission Vice-President Frans Timmermans.
Several other parties, such as the center-right CDA, were not mentioned at any point despite the data entered into the system by users matching it.
The Netherlands will head to the polls on October 29, an election that is expected to be closely watched in Europe for the performance of Wilders' far-right party.
He appears to be leading the polls, but many voters are still undecided about who to vote for. All major parties have ruled out a coalition with the PVV, meaning the latter is likely to produce the next prime minister.
