US President Donald Trump told reporters shortly before his plane departed for his Asia tour that he would like to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during his visit to South Korea.
“I would love to, he knows how we’re going to go,” Trump told reporters when asked if such a summit was possible, adding that “I get along very well with him” and “I’m 100 percent open” to the possibility of such bilateral talks.
The two leaders last met in 2019. Hours earlier, an administration official said on condition of anonymity that no such meeting was on the Republican’s tour agenda.
